Argument for Capital Punishment Essay - 935 Words

Argument for Capital Punishment If it were up to me, every murderer in this country would be put behind bars on death row and have their life taken from them just as they took the life of another. The guidelines of an eye for an eye go back thousands of years. Many countries still hold true to these guidelines. Although America doesnt follow the same as these countries, I believe when it comes to murder, they should. Putting people to death for committing murder makes other potential murderers think twice about killing someone. Capital punishment deters many murders every day. If all that had to be done was spend life in jail, getting free meals, having a roof over their head, and place to sleep at night, then killing†¦show more content†¦We have to step up and show we mean business, and that we intend to rid our country of murderers. Another thing the anti capital punishment people say is that we should value all human life. My faith in God tells me that human life isnt just a functioning body, a nd we have spirits given to us by him. Our spirits define who and what we are, and having this means we have love for other humans beings. Murderers dont have this spiritual aspect of human life, so therefore if they dont have it in the first place, it can not be taken away. Some people appose the death penalty because they believe it cost more to kill the person than to keep them in prison for life. If you put any thought into this at all, you will see that it is entirely wrong. If you put someone in jail for life, you have to feed them every single day, keep them sheltered, and take up the space in the jails. If you put someone to death, you dont have to worry about any of that. The cost of executions is far less than life in jail. Death penalty cases have alot of appeals, that cost alot of money, but life without parole cases have just about the same amount of appeals and cost just the same. When it comes down to it, putting the murderers in our country to death saves mon ey, time, and space in our jails. Others say that the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment. However in most states, the person convicted has a choice between the electric chair or lethal injection. When a person isShow MoreRelatedThe Capital Punishment Arguments888 Words   |  4 PagesDEATH PENALTY ARGUMENTS Introduction to the Issue Capital punishment is one of the most controversial issues in contemporary American criminal justice administration because it consists of the purposeful taking of the life of another. Constraints of a Business Plan - 7946 Words

Constraints That Impact on Implementation. Businesses in general need to take into account that there are a number of constraints that may impact on the implementation of their business plan. Constraints that impact on the implementation of a business plan are categorised into six areas. These are: †¢ Legal. †¢ Financial. †¢ Social. †¢ Environmental. †¢ Technological. †¢ Competitive. Sale of Goods Act 1979. The Sale of Goods Act 1979 is a British Act of Parliament, which regulates contracts in which goods are sold and bought. The Act consolidates the Sale of Goods Act 1893 and subsequent legislation, which in turn consolidated the previous common law. The Sale of Goods Act performs several functions. The Act lays down a small number of compulsory legal rules, but these restrictions are minimal. The majority of the Act is concerned with a vast amount of presumptions and implied terms, which aim to reflect the commercial expectations in the most commonly agreed sales contracts. In the absence of contrary agreement these terms will govern a contract within the Acts remit. The benefits in efficiency, through lower bargaining costs and legal certainty, have led to many adopting the legislation, and versions of the Sale of Goods Act have been adopted in almost all areas of the Commonwealth. The Act applies to all contracts where property in goods is transferred or agreed to be transferred for money. Consumer Protection Act 1989. The Theory Of Planning, Policy Formulation And Decision...

OVERVIEW The article is aimed at clarifying and formalizing the Successive Limited Comparisons (Branch) method, which has been neglected by authors (in the literature) for a long time. This long neglected method is contrasted with the Rational-Comprehensive (Root) method, which has been widely covered in the books (literatures) of planning, policy formulation and decision-making. The author examines and describes how some administrators approach complicated social problems as the root method fails when applied to difficult social problems because people have different views and sometimes they disagree on certain issues. Under such complex situations, the administrators switch to the branch method to resolve convoluted social predicaments or crises. In addition, five (5) characteristics of each method are provided in a comparative manner. Under the Rational-Comprehensive method, comprehensive analysis is made and all significant, relevant factors are considered. This approach mostly relies upo n the theory. Again, administrators approach policy-formulation by using means-end analysis. Lastly, for the empirical analysis, alternative policies to be made, distinct objectives and values have to be clarified. Conversely, the Successive Limited Comparisons approach applies intertwined empirical analysis when action is needed after the value goals have been selected. This means they are not different from each other. This method disregards overreliance on theory. Business Event Management

Question: Discuss about theBusiness Event Management. Answer: Introduction: In this assignment the importance of event management planning has been discussed. As Silvers and Goldblatt (2012) stated that appropriate event management planning has significant role to play to develop a successful event. Event management plan can perform a number of significant functions. According to Preston (2012), event management helps to secure permission for the event to proceed. It provides a road map for the event to all stakeholders. It also provides support during the event. Event management acts as a key decision-support tool during the event and provides a solid outline for staff briefing. In this assignment, 3 scenarios of event management have been provided. At first a Spatial Analysis has been done to find out how each scenario influence space. Then a functionality analysis has been conducted on all 3 case scenarios in order to find out what functions and which kind of facilities are required for each scenario. After that, the conference operations those are required for each scenario has been analyzed. It has also been discussed how the number of delegates can makes a difference in the event management plan. Spatial Analysis For this assignment, three different venues have been selected for three different scenarios. All these venues are located on the same destination Sydney. These venues are selected depending on the number of delegates, exhibitors and days of operation. Scenario a A small conference will be conducted in Sydney with workshops and forums. There will be 100-200 delegates and 10 exhibitors attain this conference. The conference will be conducted over 2 days. For this small conference, the Star room venue is selected. Location of Star room venue is Level 6, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Park, Sydney NSW 2000 (Docksidegroup 2016). The number of delegates attaining a conference has significant impact on the space requirement for the event. As it is a small conference, a small venue like Star Room is appropriate. The entire venue is 350 sqm. Height of the ceiling is 15 meter. The theater and the cabaret are 200 sqm and 160 sqm respectively. The cocktail are is 400 sqm and the classroom is 120 sqm. Scenario b In the second scenario, a medium sized conference will be conducted over 3 days. It will be opened with plenary session. In addition, 6 to 8 concurrent sessions will be organized every day. Some social networking activities will also be conducted in this conference. For this conference LAqua venue of Dockside is selected. 600 to 1500 delegates and 50 exhibitors will attain this conference for which the venue is ideal. Location of LAqua venue is Rooftop Level, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Park, Sydney 2000 (Docksidegroup 2016). LAqua has terrace room to conduct all the concurrent sessions. Area of the Terrace room is 244 sqm. The height of the terrace room is 2.9-3.37 meter. There is a gold room in the venue, which is ideal for the plenary session. Area of the gold room is 180 sqm and height is 4.2 meter. Scenario c A major international conference will be held for 5 days with plenary, concurrent sessions and social networking activities for each day. 3,500 to 5,000 delegates and 400 exhibitors will attain this conference. For this conference has been selected. Location of Dockside Pavilion venue is Balcony Level, Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Park, Sydney 2000 (Docksidegroup 2016). The entire venue is 1560 sqm. It is ideal for the plenary, concurrent sessions and social networking activities. There is also an outdoor terrace where the closing gala dinner and award ceremonies can be organized. In addition, the venue has large theatre (1800 sqm) and classroom (612 sqm) that can appropriate for a large conference like it. Functional Analysis Scenario a In the small conference held in Star Room venue, there are mainly two types of functions conducted. They are such as workshops and forums. There are some major steps related with organizing a forum (Bearzotti et al. 2012). 1) At first, it is required to find out the organizational partners who are co-hosting the forum. 2) Then it is required to decide appropriate timing and place for the workshop and forum. It has been analyses that the classroom of the Star Room venue is appropriate for such workshop and forum. 3) Then it is required to decide the program that will be organized in the workshop. 4) At last, the costs related with the workshop activity have to be analyzed. Scenario b In case of the middle-sized conference, the major functions will be conducted. They are such as opening plenary session, 6 to 8 concurrent session every day and some social networking activities. Plenary meetings, breakouts will be organized in the gold room while concurrent session will be organized on the Terrace room. As Masterman (2014) stated that, it has become a tradition to incorporate meetings with breakout sessions or concurrent sessions. At first a large session will be organized where all the delegates will attend a general session with the key exhibitors. Then it will break out into multiple smaller sessions. Delegates will attend these sessions in accordance with their interests. For example, if a football team organizes a concurrent session, then one session will be for defense, one session will be for offense and one for strategy building. The necessary items required to organize the breakout sessions properly. They are such as screen, projector, microphone, sound sys tem and mixer. Additional items such as wireless microphones, slide advancer, laser pointer, table microphone and audience microphones. Scenario c In the large conference, plenary session, concurrent sessions and social networking activities will be organized every day. In addition, a closing gala dinner and award ceremonies will also be organized as well. A PCO exhibition is going to be organized where more than 400 exhibitors will be participating. For this reason, it is required to have registration desk and office. For the closing Gala dinner, it is required to have decorated house kitchen and serving areas. In order to develop proper interaction between delegates and exhibitors, the venue must have quite areas and networking spaces. In order to organize social activities in conjunction with business events it is required to have cocktail bars and large dining rooms. Operational Requirements Scenario a As in the first conference, only workshops and forums are going to be organized, hence only technical items are required. It includes Bluetooth devices, video links, screen, projector, microphone, sound system and mixer. Soundproof rooms and networking space is required to develop effective interaction between the Host Company, exhibitors and delegates. There are some additional items such as wireless microphones, slide advancer, laser pointer, table microphone and audience microphones will be required for the conference. Scenario b Technical items such as Bluetooth devices, video links, screen, projector, microphone, sound system, mixer, wireless microphones, slide advancer, laser pointer, table microphone and audience microphones will be required. Scenario c Just like above mentioned two conferences, it will also require all the technical items. Wwii Essays (474 words) - Modern History, , Term Papers

Wwii Summary of World War II in Europe In World War II the Allied Forces had a Europe First campaign of invading the Atlantic countries before the Pacific. This is because Germany served as a bigger threat than Japan to the Allied Powers. In the United States, Franklin Delanor Roosevelt was the President. He kept America neutral at first, but later entered in after Pearl Harbor. George Patton was a popular U.S. Army leader who started tank warfare in America. Bernard Montgomery commanded the 8th Army which had victories in Europe including D-Day. At the near end of the war Omar Bradley toured through Germany notifying the rest of the world what had gone on there with all of the death camps during the Holocaust, which was where the murder of over 6 millioin Jewish people took place. Important leaders from other countries also arose during World War II. Joseph Stalin was from the USSR and was recognized as killing as many as 50 million of his own people from the USSR from bad-mouthing him. He helped the U.S. by fight Japan while Britain and the U.S. fought Germany. Winston Churchill replaced Chamberlain for Britains Prime Minister in 1938. He showed great resistance to Germany and his people followed in the leadership. Lastly, Charles DeGaulle was the French leader who ran and exiled the Free French Government in London. Important places in Europe included sites such as Stalingrad and Normandy. Stalingrad perhaps was the bloodies battle in all of Europe, also a major turning point for the Allies during World War II. The other gruesome battle took place in Normandy, France. The battle was called D-Day and almost signified the end of German resistance. In the Belgian town of Dunkirk, British Naval forces rescued the bulk of the army along with some French and Belgian units. Due to the French surrendering, Germans attacked North Africa to support the failed Italian efforts. Under the leadership of General Erwin Rommel, German forces pushed eastward to take Egypt until the British at the Battle of El Alamain halted their advance. U-Boats, which were kind of like submarines, were the Germans main defense against Britain for naval battle. Adolf Hitler, the German leader planned all these offensives in his goal to rule the world. Benito Mussolini, the Italian leader helped Hitler achieve this goal somewhat. While none of this was achieved the Allies attacked Sicily, then Italy moving north towards Rome. Because of his bad leadership and ruling, Mussolini was executed by his followers. The Battle of the Bulge was perhaps the end of the War for both sides in European warfare. Russian forces came in from the East and Allied forces from the West, centering in on Berlin to take over Germany, thus ending war on the European front. History

I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings essays

I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings essays I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, is a story based on a young, black, moderately poor girl named Marguerite Maya Johnson and the ordeals she experiences as she grows. The story holds strong emotional issues of ones self-esteem, ignorance and character strength. As we know Maya viewed and many times dealt with difficult situations throughout her early years. She understands that the only way for black people to remain strong and dignified in the face of racism is to respond with dignity to attacks. For example, when the white woman yells at the black war veteran, he does not yell back, he simply and quietly points out to her that she is wrong. "Then ask your son to look around for my arm, which I left over there." I found this quote comical because it shows the man avoiding another demeaning argument of racism, while at the same time telling the woman she is foolish. Ignorance was also a great factor of the story. For example, Maya, like most black people in Stamps, knows almost nothing about white people, "I remember never believing that whites were really real. they are too different from her. She merely saw them as creatures. I feel this is just another example of how racism is based on ignorance. Both parties or guilty of hate, hate brewed on ignorance and lack of interest of neighboring cultures. Hate, that has literally been passed down from generation to generation with a just cause attitude. In contrast, Maya has an experience that would build self-esteem and change her outlook on the interaction between people. In the junkyard, Maya learns to take care of herself, and she begins to understand that people of all races, and all personality types, can be friends. The kids accept her without questioning her. This helps her to feel less alone because of her own race, and makes her feel like a normal human being, rather than an unwanted, ugly black girl who doesn't be ...

Labor Unions and Employee Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Labor Unions and Employee Management - Essay Example ed thousand workers had already acquired a labour union membership but because of the subsequent economic depression during this time the number previously mention went down to fifty thousand members only. However, in 1886, the American Federation of Labor (AFL) was formed and its formation helped to raise the number of people in the labour unions. This increase in number of labour union membership rose because workers became aware of the fact that labor unions benefit their members by giving them a higher pay of even up to 27% more than non-unionised workers get. However, union members are required to pay 2% of their salaries to the union but nevertheless, that percentage does not compare to all the benefits they receive. ei: Health care (Milkman and Voss, 2004). With reference to the studies conducted by Early (2011), there are two legislations, which include the Railway Labor Act of 1926 and the Norris-LaGuardia Act of 1935 that were brought about by the aftermath of a series of strikes and lockouts that interrupted the rail transportation. The Rail Labor Act (RLA) was passed in 1926, and it brought about a peaceful way for railway companies and their employees to resolve their problems. It is beneficial to note that the RLA applies to common carrier rail service and commercial airline employees. This act allows employees to join only major strikes, and participate in the use of lockouts. According to the writings by Milkman and Voss (2004), this act helped employees an easier access to engage in union organization activities, this is because before this act, companies had a total control on how workers were treated. The act allowed workers the right for collective bargaining and stated â€Å"that neither officers of the union, nor the un ion itself would be held liable for unlawful activities of its members that could not be proven to have been instigated or approved by the union. After the Norris-LaGuardia Act, relations between the workforce and the management

Can Go Issues And Solutions

Can Go Issues And Solutions One of CanGo division is an online book store. Best sellers are kept in the warehouse grouped by subject, while other titles are ordered from publishers or other sources. The current process involves pickers getting lists with titles that have been ordered and then picking them from inventory. The issues with this system are that the lists are random and congestion. This is because a picker may have to go from one end of the warehouse to the other and back again when fulfilling an order. In addition, multiple pickers often end up in the same place at the same time causing congestion. If the picking process is improved, it would mean CanGo can carry more inventory and decrease the amount of time it takes to get books to customers. Solution 1 CanGo has presented a proposal to purchase an automatic storage and retrieval system (ASRS) to streamline the picking process. An ASRS is a system that uses technology for depositing and retrieving inventory from a defined storage location. There are several benefits to an ASRS including better use of both space and labor, and it improves the company control of the materials CanGo needs to consider several things when designing a system. These include the material to be moved, numbers of load to be stored, material flow description, description of operations, and architectural consideration for future expansion (ASRS, 1999). It is obvious that CanGo deals with books but it is important to know the weight and the dimensions of the books. Material flow description or flow charts illustrate how the books get from the starting point to the outbound truck, including a description of what the operator does and shows places where a logjam may occur. Architectural consideration means that the size of the building may place limits on what system CanGo uses. There are several manufactures of ASRS systems. One is Cisco Eagle and its mini storage system (Cisco eagle mini load). Material is placed in a tote, a tray or a carton. Storage can be single, double or triple deep. In conclusion a good ASRS system will lower storage costs and enable the work force to be more productive. Problem 2 CanGo continues to strive to increase their sales and to work through their growing pains that are often experienced by new companies. Like many startup companies, CanGo is faced with the prospect of large investments back into the company in order to increase production and streamline the delivery system. One issue that CanGo needs to rectify is the number of abandoned shopping carts that the company is experiencing. According to a recent survey conducted by Comscore, 76% of orders are abandoned. This is because the educated consumer of today continues to comparison shop throughout the checkout process. While CanGo has experienced a smaller percentage of abandoned orders, the problem is still prevalent. Solution 2 East Coast Consulting simulated the purchasing process on CanGos website and offers the following recommendations. Review the pricing of items that are offered. If an item is the same or similar as to what is offered on other sites, the consumer will shop by price alone. Offer a clearance or sale area in order to entice shoppers. Offer free shipping. 76% of consumers rate free shipping as a must for online orders. According to David Bell of Wharton, For whatever reason, a free shipping offer that saves customers 6.99 in shipping is more appealing to many than a discount that cuts the purchase price by $10 Eliminate the need to register in order to check out. This requires too much information from the customer and takes too much time. Provide the option of Guest check out. Remember that in order to follow up on abandoned orders, an email address must be obtained. This should be the first field presented to the customer upon checkout. Build trust and eliminate doubt with customers. This can be accomplished by addressing frequently asked questions, clearly stating the return and privacy policy and a security guarantee. Also, CanGo needs to prominently show the company information including an email and phone number. Implement Live Chat. In a recent survey, 77% of retailers listed Live Chat as critical to converting the shopping cart into sales. Offer more payment options including PayPal and Amazon Checkout. Also provide clear instructions on providing credit card information. Simplify this process as much as possible and make the checkout button a clear call to action. We feel these recommendations will greatly improve the conversion rate at CanGo. Problem 3 One of the main problem that Can Go is facing is making their website user friendly and more appealing, At this point, nearly every company has a website, and for good reason. Potential customers and clients use sites to learn about the company, but also to get a general feeling about service and culture. If Can Go makes their website user friendly and attractive then customer would definitely come back and buy the service. Solution 3 Although a fantastic-looking website can be powerful, design isnt the first place to start when it comes to user experience. Because businesses need to understand their consumers in order to develop products and marketing campaigns that appeal to their target audience, consumer psychologists often spend a great deal of time learning more about what makes shoppers tick. This often involves first figuring out the target audience for a particular product including the gender, age and socioeconomic status of the typical shopper. Next, the consumer psychologist might begin researching the types of products and marketing messages that appeal to these types of buyers. Other consumer psychologists might focus on social marketing, or how ideas and messages spread among groups. Researchers might be interested in getting out information about a product or an important public health message. Learning how beliefs andÂÂ  attitude spread among groups can help organizations learns how to better get their message out and encourage word-of-mouth marketing. Consumer psychologists often conduct research to learn more about buyer behavior. Common research methods used by these professionals include experiments, phone surveys, focus groups, direct observation and questionnaires. Chances are good that you have participated in at least one market research survey in your life. These are often conducted by phone, but may also be done online or through direct mail. In a survey, consumers are often asked to describe their past shopping behavior, factors that influenced their decision-making and their future buying plans. Researchers also typically gather details about each respondents sex, age, race, educational history and current financial situation. This type of information can be very useful, since it allows researchers to look for patterns and learn more about who buys certain products. For example, using a survey might allow researchers to discover that women between the ages of 30 and 45 who have a household income between $50,000 to $100,000 are most likely to buy a particular product or service. By knowing this, they can then begin designing marketing campaigns aimed at this target audience. Learning these aspects will definitely help Can Go to help better their business. Problem 4 CanGo has spent a lot of time trying to meet the needs of their current customers and have done very well at that. Recently, CanGo began research to understand their current customers purchasing habits and the changing and evolving ecommerce market. For CanGo to remain successful, they must understand the new target market. It is very well known that customer retention is imperative to be successful and without doing the proper research, CanGo will not be effective at holding on to their current customers or gaining new ones. This will ultimately make them a failure with the new product and it could cause them to go under for a lack of being able to gain new customers for the current market. Solution 4 CanGo needs to take a look at it current customers first. Then they need to understand what the age group of its current shoppers is and what they are purchasing. Then CanGo can identify any buying habits. This will help CanGo with their advertising and marketing. This can also help with planning so that their customers will not be impacted by a lack of product. CanGo will also need to identify the target market for online gaming. Doing market research will help CanGo by answering certain questions. What age group of people likes to play games online? What time of day do they like to play these games and how often. How much do online gamers pay for this service? What does the current competition offer? This way they can better understand the new target market as well as the old one. Problem 5 CanGo recently experienced an increase in orders from Japan. When the company received the occasional order from Japan, it was economical to send via UPS. Now, with the increase in sales to Japan, it makes sense to look into companies that specialize in business shipments to Japan. CanGo also should learn all it can about Japanese shipping regulations. Solution 5 CanGo should seek to partner with several companies that specialize in business shipments to Japan. One company is Best Shipping (Best shipping). According to their website, Best Shipping not only accepts imports, but they are licensed customer brokers. They are able to navigate the Japanese shipping rules and regulations and have its own fleet of trucks. This means that one company will have control of the shipment from the time merchandise leaves CanGo until it arrives at the customers door. Another company that specializes in shipping to Japan is Yamato Transport Inc. There office is located in Secaucus, New Jersey and specialize in air and ocean freight, international moving and import and export custom clearing services in the US. The company has several businesses that specialize in door to door shipments in a particular region of Japan. Large American based shipping companies like UPS and Fed Ex have experience serving the Japanese market and should be part of CanGos rotation of Japanese shippers. Although the shipping companies are experts in Japanese shipping rules and will handle most of the details, it is helpful to know the basics. Jetro.org, Japans external trade organization, offers useful information for US companies doing business in Japan. Problem 6 CanGo is spending time to fix all of the things that are not currently working. In doing so there has not been any update on what they are going to do to get the new product line off the ground. Has research been done to see if there is a competitor out in the online gaming market? What type of computer system is needed to handle online gamers? Is CanGos security tight enough to handle the hackers? What is needed to get the online gaming up and running? Does CanGo have enough capital to make this happen? These are all questions that have not been answered. CanGo has not assigned any specific people to the new project. This is going to be a lot of work and take a lot of time. The marketing department also needs to focus on who they are marketing to and how they are going to market to them. Solution 6 So that the team stays focused at a time like this there should be weekly meeting on what is going on with the new project what needs to be done. Deadlines need to be set. This way it is clear that CanGo has not decided not to do the project and that this needs to be done in addition to the corrections to the current process. This way it is clear to all what the goal is. This will help the workers not lose sight of what is important and what needs to be done. CanGo need to make a Gantt chart so the time line of what needs to be done. This will also help assign people to specific task. When CanGo does this it will make it clear to all what needs to be done and who is going to do it. Once it is clear to everyone who is doing what, CanGo needs to look at what they are looking to sell. A Gantt chart would be beneficial to help assign people to specific task and provide clear goals and time frame for completion. In Closing it is important for CanGo to focus on now and the future. That means looking at what is happening to maintain the current customers and drive new ones. East Coast Consulting has provided 6 problems and 6 solutions that will allow CanGo to get once set closer to getting where they want to be. References ASRS. (1999, May 27). Essay --

Stephen Crane established the naturalist style in literature, where concepts from real life are reconstructed in a fictional context to exemplify the plight of those trapped in the lower dregs of society. Naturalistic writers depict their characters as individuals oppressed by their environment; their acts are based upon their need to survive and the social order they fall into. The ideals of naturalism claim that human beings are not free, but that their actions are controlled and pre-determined mostly by the setting they inhabit and the natural or learned traits they possess. Keith Fudge, author of â€Å"Sisterhood Born from Seduction: Susanna Rowson’s Charlotte Temple, and Stephen Crane’s Maggie Johnson† states that â€Å"Maggie: A Girl of the Streets† has been recognized as â€Å"Naturalism’s first novel† (Fudge 43). The scientific philosophy comprised in naturalism originated from Charles Darwin’s theories of evolution that claim that only the â€Å"fittest† will survive. Throughout the novel, numerous degrees of survival and extinction are depicted; whether it is by Jimmie, Mary, Nell, or Maggie herself. Maggie: A Girl of the Streets is indeed a naturalistic tale of both physical and mental survival. Crane’s use of setting, tone, characters, and concepts of Darwinism illustrate this unequivocally. I will begin by fleshing out the concepts of Darwinism and Social Darwinism in the context of the novel and its relation to naturalism. Clarence Darrow spoke this famous line that exemplifies Social Darwinism’s philosophy, which is universally misattributed to Charles Darwin, â€Å"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but rather the one most adaptable to change†. The environment is of significant importance to s... ... of moral sense; just as it exist in the Galapagos Islands of Darwin. Crane inserts isolated statements which serve to reinforce the Darwinian aspects of the novella. There is a zeitgeist of natural history that runs throughout. The matter of fact retelling of dreadful events, such as when Crane writes, â€Å"The babe, Tommie, died. He went away in an insignificant coffin, his small waxen hand clutching a flower that the girl, Maggie, had stolen from an Italian, she and Jimmie lived.† helps illuminate this point. The first example of Naturalist literature, this novella is original in its approach to literary theory; it is not overly explicit nor does it call for change or revolution in a Marxist fashion, it is unadorned and free of opinion. Maggie: Girl a Girl of the Streets solely recounts what is observable and the rules that are known to be true in the natural world.
